Arteesan is a global platform for artists and art organisations to run their practice in one place. An artist manages their artwork inventory, creates derivatives of a piece, showcases work on a personal profile, publishes a show, and sells to buyers anywhere, all on the platform. Astralab is the system architect behind it, having designed the platform and the on-chain provenance layer its certificates run on.
Every artwork on Arteesan carries a blockchain-based certificate of authenticity, issued as an on-chain NFT. It is a tamper-evident record of what the piece is and who has owned it, and it travels with the work rather than living in a drawer. In a market where price rests on provenance, that record is the difference between a claim and proof.
Arteesan is now home to thousands of artists across Southeast Asia, and the official digital partner of Artober, Malaysia's largest art and cultural festival. As the festival's digital partner, the platform carries a physical show beyond its few days on the floor, reaching a global audience and keeping a verifiable record of the work long after the event ends.
We have written about the thinking behind it: how a physical festival gains a verifiable digital layer in our piece on Arteesan and Artober, and what it takes to put provenance and compliance on-chain in our notes on Sharia-compliant digital assets. Arteesan is live at arteesan.io.
